Looking at Forums for Deals

One of the best places to find hot deals online is in the forums on many deal and non deal websites. Many hot deal listing sites offer forums or message boards where individuals can post their own deals. These forums can often hold a large list of deals not found elsewhere. Some deals posted may have certain restrictions or be limited to a select number of customers. Other deals may be unknown to the general Internet community at large. 

One example is the forum section on Anandtech.com. While the site is not a deal site, it does host a nice deal forum. Many computer owners post their own deals found online. Sometimes the deals are unique and unadvertised. Other deals may be more widely known. Many deals posted often have comments that can help show if a deal is expired or simply not worth the hassle.

Forums also can help give reviews on products being sold at discounts or on sale. Some deals may not be worth the trouble. HDTVs that are on sale for great prices may be less than stellar models. On a forum board, others may give reviews of the product and suggest better alternatives. Sometimes deals listed on forums may have similar deals posted under the original deal. 

Another positive use for deal forums is in determining if a deal is bogus or illegitimate. Some deals are false or may simply be price mistakes. Forum posts can reveal fairly quickly if a deal is incorrect or a false advertisement. Some deals may just be price mistakes which usually are not honored.

Deal forums are not the easiest places to locate deals. Often deals are thrown together based on their age of post, number of posts, or readers. Finding specific deals can be more difficult than a general web page.  

Using forums is a great way to extend to your deal finding power. Many deals may be posted that not are found elsewhere. Or there may be deals that are posted before becoming well known elsewhere.
